Have you guys heard of the latest diet craze? Are you on board? I sincerely hope not. The newest in the world of diet fads is a very simplistic approach called Calories In, Calories Out. In theory and potentially application – this will lead to weight loss. It’s the oldest trick in the book – BUT that’s just NOT how it works. I remember having a friend that held this mentality – I’m going to eat this dessert now and that’s ok because I will be going to the gym later. My response was always the same – that’s not how it works.
Physical health is only is only one component of health, and weight loss is only a small slice of that pie. Being slim does not automatically equate to good health, especially IF it comes at the cost of your mental and economic health.
Health and nutrition is NOT a one size fits all mentality. There is no easy fix. Just like we invest in our careers, our relationships, our ambitions, our happiness – we must invest in our bodies. I feel very strongly about this. Our bodies deserve our attention and to be invested in – after all they carry us throughout the rest of our successes.
